Carpenters Arms

The board is tucked away at the back of a pub in a dedicated area in this gem of a boozer – which is one of my favourite central London dart pubs, and a regular coaching venue. It’s also incredibly central, with limited tourists. The throw is just a little bit tight, but that helpfully prevents the space being permanently given over to more tables.

Been to this pub?

Tell us when you last played there, so we know the board is still up – and do leave any interesting (clean!) stories while you’re at it.

Visited on 9th May 2017. An excellent pub with a good quality board tucked away nicely so any arrows that bounce out do not endanger the local patrons. Friendly staff and decent drinks selection.

Popped in to the pub at 14:30, to kill a couple of hours with some pints and a throw. Pretty quiet at this time of afternoon, as one might expect. It’s a nice pub with good, fresh Guiness. £7.40 a pint though – ouch.

The board is still situated at the rear of the main room, in a snug little area. The space is a bit tight for fluent matchplay but great for a casual throw/individual practice.

The day-to-day board is a tatty old Winmau Blade 5 (I’m sure there is a fancy match board for league nights) but there was no problem with bounce/drop outs. The halo light was broken but the natural light is good here, so no problem during daylight hours.

No digital scoreboard and not a lot of room for chalking beside the board – it would feel pretty dangerous for the chalker! – so smart phone apps are the way to go here.

All round a good throw here.
