The board is situated in the left hand bar, with the oche in front of both the toilet door and the door to the garden – which serves as a route from one bar to the other. This makes it a venue where you will get interrupted, but where chairs and tables will never be in the way. The perfect pub to stumble upon, although good luck picking the right door after a few. On my 2025 visit I found a brand new board – which I think was a little high, but there again, I am shrinking.
Anyhow, enough of the darts, this is a proper history pub – which the Wiki tells me was first mentioned by name in 1546. Woaah! It was also the place where ruffians and criminals were allowed a final ale before (be-?)heading to Tyburn.

Went in here last night (12/01/16) and threw a few arrows with a few regulars. Decent boozer (it’s a Sam Smiths place) and nice, relaxed atmosphere.
Lovely traditional pub with friendly staff. Played darts here on 13/1/16 until long after the final bell. Plenty of space around the oche with lots of headroom so your darting mates who like to ‘droop’ won’t be picking their darts out of the ceiling rather than the board.
Popped by for a lunchtime chuck yesterday. Standard Sam Smith afternoon vibe – deathly quiet.
Chuckers beware though: unlike the other nearby Sam Smith pubs which recently appear to have new boards installed (Chandos, Glasshouse Stores), this board is in a SORRY state. Bottom left quarter totally bulging and deformed. Not really fit for playing, although still not bad for practicing your 60s.
