Anchor Tap

If I was a dart playing tourist in London this is the first place I would visit. Just a couple of minutes from Tower Bridge, it’s a proper old pub with comparatively cheap (Sam Smith’s) beer and its own dart room. Feels more 1763 than 2023, and that’s because it’s been there that long.

Been to this pub?

Tell us when you last played there, so we know the board is still up – and do leave any interesting (clean!) stories while you’re at it.

Paid the Anchor Tap a visit recently and must say it wasn’t all that great darts-wise.

The board is in it’s own little games room – this was great on my visit as the pub wasn’t very busy on a Saturday afternoon. However, if the place is heaving you might struggle to get access to the board.

The board itself is in pretty bad shape, with the spider popping out from the surface. It’s also hung an inch or so too high AND it’s an uphill throw from the oche! So not ideal for a serious throw!

The lighting isn’t great either and there’s no electronic scoreboard, so old school chalking only here.

All in all, fine for a very casual throw but avoid for any kind of competitive action.
