Blue Posts

The board is very visible, so if you’re gonna throw here, throw well, you’ll be on show. Still, it’s a lovely proper old pub, and not a bad place to wait around for your friend(s), who have gone to the WRONG BLUE POSTS.

Yes, it’s important that you find the correct Blue Posts – there are five in and around Soho. In the mid-nineteenth century there were 15 Blue Posts in this part of London, and prior to that there were no doubt several more. The story goes that a blue post signified a Sedan Chair stop – effectively it was where you waited for a bus, before buses. And what better thing to put at a bus stop than a pub, with a dart board. (The story may or may not be true, but, like, whatever).

Been to this pub?

Tell us when you last played there, so we know the board is still up – and do leave any interesting (clean!) stories while you’re at it.

Nice board. Plenty of room around it and good ceiling height. There’s even some coat hooks for when the weather’s inclement – and a shelf for pints and the inevitable pub snacks to sustain you during a lengthy tungsten tussle. There are a few other boards nearby too if this one’s in use.

    Nice board. Beautiful pub.

I appreciate what Samuel Smith does with their pubs. However, when the pub is empty, without music, it is like throwing darts in a church.
